Has it been that long????

Oh how I have missed my internet! I will have to take great pains to update more often.

Some good things
  • Boyfriend owns a kilt.....I get to borrow hehe
  • Hours have picked up at work...more money YES!
  • School clothes and supplies for the widget almost fully stocked
  • Anime to my hearts content
  • I love one of my jobs
  • A few other things that don't come to mind offhand so ulm monkeys ( as my adorable gothy boy likes to say)

Some bad things

  • I hate my other job
  • Monkeys?

We have been playing like crazy Super Smash TV. The game is sooooo much fun. We have become addicts to it. The sarcastic one has some interesting artwork he has made for me. It is kind of tribal mixed with fantasy. I really need to find the time to go get it framed. I have also formed an addiction to Cold Stone Creamery. It is an awesome ice cream shop where they mix your ice cream up with oreos, chocolate chips, sprinkles, whatever on a cold stone hense the name. At first I thought it was horribly priced. ( 5.25 us a small serving) I have come to realize that it must be mixed up with crack when you aren't looking as I love the stuff!

Oh my time to go to work....more to come!

Life continues

Finally! I have scored some serious hours at my jobs. Now I can finally get caught back up as well as saving up some money for moving costs. The current owners of my apartment complex suck eggs as I have stated.
I have been playing Oblivion lately. It is so much fun! I have noticed the urge to "pluck" flowers and herbs out of neighbors yards for raising my alchemy skill is strong. I love playing a thief, it's the kender in me. I love to role play thieves, they rock! However sad news in computer land. The Imps comp has decided to give up the ghost. Everything on it was lost including Oblivion. Sigh. I know he will be able to get it working again, but I feel so bad for him.
I watched the trailers for The Omen remake and the new Xmen. I absolutely cannot wait until they come out. Fantastic stuff!
I have been living with the Imp for what? A month?? I still adore him. He is the bees knees. All those silly little things that your special someone does when they are in the privacy of their home is all falling out now. You know how it is, when you are first dating you are careful to some degree to not leave your socks on the floor etc. Now he is talking to himself as he plays video games, and you know what? It's cute, and I am guilty of the same offense.
Tommarow I have a double shift so I should probably get some rest.

Yes! Quick update

I called back on the retail job that was checking my references, she was just about to call me she said.
I got the job!!!!

Tommarow, I am going to hit 3 places around my shift there. I want just one more job then I will be content. I do have one to call on tonight, who knows, maybe I will get that one. I feel like I am on a roll.

Ok, time to watch a movie with the widget.

On coconut, peeping tomettes, and landlords

Still no luck in securing an extra job even though I had 4 interviews this last week. One of which did call me on Friday to inform me they were checking my references. I need to call back on that one today as that means as long as they are good ( which mine are) its in the bag. My current paying gig is only scheduling me 2 to 3 days a week. The rest is the fabled " on-call", yuck. Corporations are the devil!
Next on the agenda, is that the new owners of my apartment complex are rat bastards. The old owners were slum lord material in the way they ran things. ( When I moved in I asked how much for the apartment, was asked back ," How much can you afford?".) These new ones though are scummier in an entirely new way.
They are giving the tenants all this fancy paperwork explaining how great things will be with their new changes. Any smart person however can see right though their B.S. Its just pretty legal words stating that they intend to rip us off like a mugger on Pioneer Square at night.
Firstly, they changed out the washers which worked fine for new ones that work equally fine. The difference? Seventy Five cents more per load. Gee thanks that helps so much.
Lets see the old landlords paid water, sewer, garbage. Which is par for an apartment complex I have ever lived in. Now tenants will pay that.
My parking space, assigned storage space, and my balcony do not come with the apartment. Oh yes, they are, and I quote, "common areas of the property/said usage is a license to use these areas in common with the owner". I do not wish to have the owner go through my private storage area.

Ready for the kicker?

They will not be held responsible for fixing anything in the apartment, it is the tenants job. Hello??? A person who owns a home pays for maintenance a renter does not. These are just examples of the nonsense. These new owners suck balls and I am pretty sure some of this paperwork is illegal. I don't want to bother with the housing authority however. I just wish to move before this goes into effect as they are scum in my book.

On to some more positive things. Firstly, the widget is still riding the sugar high from Easter. ( She tricked both the imp and I into biting into a coconut candy, causing us both to spit and hack the vile taste out, she found it hilarious) The imp and I are hooked on a Courtney Crumrin. It is a great comic! Trying to get my hands on some more of them. Been playing Rubies at night, I had forgotten how fun that game can be. I have started a toon on Kingdom of Loathing, ( found the link on Plastic Mice ) it is funny as Hades!! There are too many serious games out there, this is a nice quick diversion.

On a weird side note, this week, I saw a little old lady peeping in to an adult shop. Broad daylight, on a busy street, parents walking behind her with strollers. She had her hands cupping around her face which was pressed up against the window to cut out the suns glare. Most people scurry inside to see the wares but not this one. She cared not about what people might think about a granny type ooogling the dildos and strap-ons. I found that so awesome. Funny, but awesome still the same.

Jeebus Monk-ay on a stick!!!!

What a crazy day!

A perfectly normal day of job hunting turned into long bus rides and alot of standing around. In transit, finding out the business was to far out of downtown to work with current work schedule. The kicker of the day was on the way back to pick up my daughter.
The imp and I were waiting for the bus back to our neck of the woods, when cops on motorcycles came out of nowhere. My first thought was there was a riot. But 'lo and behold it was an immigration reform rally.
Oh yes, those living in Seattle know exactly what I am on about. For those not in the know, thousands of people blocked the streets of downtown and went 8 blocks over their scheduled area. Cars and busses were stuck with no way to reroute. We saw one car actually drive through the plaza by the fountain to make a U-turn down a one-way street! They caused gridlock of one of the most used streets of downtown, causing hundreds of people to have difficulties getting home, to appointments, work, and many ( such as myself) to be extremely late picking up their children.
I was standing at a payphone calling my brother hoping to god he could pick up my daughter from her daycamp program and trying to explain to the staff of said program why I can't pick her up. Still they marched! Whatever cause you were hoping people would sympathize with, I am one person who of your "rally" simply remembers the disturbance in my life that your silly little group created. I now have no desire to help your group , in fact, whatever way you are wanting me to vote on your issue, expect the opposite. Good job!

Today's title was picked by the imp. Hallaflippin' OOla!

Gamer girl in Librarian town

I am back to playing Rubies of Eventide. It is a really fun donationware MMORPG. My ex-boyfriend had deleted my level 50 Paladin when I decided to stay in Seattle and broke up with him. I am starting from scratch but people are generous there knowing what happened to my high level character. I have been given a great deal of money and equipment so yes I am riding on the rep of the same name of my old toon.

I set the laptop on the computer desk so I could mine ore on the laptop while watching Corpse Bride on the desktop, which seemed to amuse the imp. Having a gamer girlfriend appeals to him, me thinks.

I had an interesting weekend at work. Had the opportunity to wait on librarians from all over the country that were in Seattle for a conference. Very nice people, but alot of them were culture shocked by the west coast. One of them asked me to explain what a prawn is. It is always kind of fun to meet people from other places that see things a bit on the different side. Ooops, speaking of work, I must be off to it.

Fond memories

I finally watched the remake of House of Wax. Twice. Despite the fact that talentless hack Paris Hilton was in it, I still enjoyed it greatly. Alot of great scare value and gross thrills.
I used to visit wax museums often as a youth, they will always hold a special piece of childhood for me. I could wander around for hours staring at all the lifelike statues. I would often think how cool it would be to be accidentally locked up overnight with Jack the Ripper, Billy the Kid, and Dracula. My childhood was filled with roadtrips often peppered with roadside attractions on the list of to-dos. I have seen more mystery spots, deserted towns, bigfoot museums then any one person should be blessed to see. I loved every bit of it too.
Feeling sickly as I caught the flu, and can't focus well. So that is all for now.

BAD Jillie! Bad girl!!

What a silly bunch of events.

Firstly, last week my brother obtained pneumonia. Since he was terribly ill, my boyfriend was kind enough to come over for the weekend to watch my cupcake so I could work. I had four scheduled shifts, he was able to be there for three of them. He unfortunately had to leave, which meant I had to miss a day of work. I called in the day before my shift. This weekend, my brother still has pneumonia. The imp, saint that he is, is watching her again for the weekend. Again, he can only stay three of the four scheduled shifts. I hope my brother is well enough by the fourth.

Because

When I went into work last night, I was given a write-up for the unexcused absence ( Why they gave it to me before my shift is beyond me. Maybe they thought it would improve my performance? Newsflash, it tends to have the opposite effect). Nevermind that the shift was covered and nothing bad happened from my missed day.

You get two verbal warnings before a write up. Here is a list of mine.

  1. Asked for a day off 3 weeks in advance because I knew I wouldn't have childcare for that day. I even told them my reason for needing the day off. They scheduled me anyway as everyone knows asking for a day off does not guarantee it. So by that reasoning, I could plan to get married a year in advance, and a week before my wedding they can schedule me. I would have to cancel my wedding, because gee they really need me at work.
  2. Second was missing a madatory meeting. Hmmm ok, I earned this one as I did completely forget about it.
The big write-up. Boom!

While I like my job and the people I work with, this is the bad thing about working for a big corporation. Human beings are not robots. Life happens everyday to All of us. I miss working for smaller businesses that have not forgotten these things. Life is chaos. Plain and simple. We are on a giant rollercoaster with no stop until we plummet to our deaths on some crazy turn.

Everyone says " I know it is hard being a single parent", or " Being a single parent is so tough". You are so right it flippin' IS. I risk losing my job if my childcare falls through. It blows goats. Sigh.
